National Cadet Corps (NCC)
The NCC, a voluntary organization headquartered in New Delhi, is the military cadet corps of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force that is engaged in grooming the youth of the nation into patriotic and disciplined citizens. The students are trained to use small arms and take part in parades.
The NCC unit at the CPTC in Vattiyoorkavu had its beginning in the Institute of Textile Technology, Trivandrum. However, when the ITT was merged with the CPTC, NCC was introduced here as well. Presently, there are about 120 cadets in total with a distribution of 40 students representing each year.
NCC cadets at the CPTC are regular participants at major national and state parades and functions. Our NCC cadets take part in the Republic Day parade at New Delhi, the State Republic Day Parade at Thiruvananthapuram, National Integration Camps, NCC National Games, Tal Sainik camp, adventure trekking camps and regular training camps among others. The NCC cadets of our polytechnic also form the Guard of Honour pilot to many eminent persons that visit the state.
The Motto of NCC is “Unity and Discipline”
The Aims of NCC are as follows :-
(a) To develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure & sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth to make them useful citizens.
(b) To create a human resources of organized, trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life including the Armed Forces and always available for the service of the Nation.
(c) To create suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.
