The Best Education In Kerala
The Central Polytechnic College, Thiruvananthapuram was established in the year 1958 and it started functioning in a building in the campus of the School of Arts. At first it offered three year diploma courses in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Having constructed its own building in the year 1967, the college shifted to Vattiyoorkavu in the outskirts of the city. Situated in a place of great historical signification – a place that contributed greatly to the cause of the nation during our struggle for freedom – the college has so far successfully contributed to the process of nation building. Within a short span of time the college has become one of the most sought after technical education institutions in Kerala. The campus sprawling over an area of 25.4 acres provides ample facilities to both the staff and the student community. In order to serve the needs of the industry in a better way other diploma branches like Electronics Engineering, Textile Technology and Computer Engineering were later introduced. The college now offers three year diploma courses in six disciplines – Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Textile Technology and Computer Engineering. Every year more than 360 students from different walks of the society seek admission in the college. A centre of great academic brilliance, most of the leading companies visit our college every year hunting for the talented technicians. The increasing per cent of placement for our students is a mark of recognition for the humble service we are providing.
In addition to the brilliant curricular activities the college gives importance to extra curricular activities as well. The NSS unit or our college is one of the best in state. Our NCC cadets have won several national awards. Our students come out with flying colours in inter-polytechnic arts and sports competitions. Our unit of Community Development Through Polytechnics functions with a vision of taking technology to the doorstep of the layman. The Continuing Education Cell functioning in our college is a ray of hope for the drop outs and the marginalized. The college, in its own humble ways, aiming at total social well being puts into practice the lofty vision of education.
