The Continuing Education Cell of Central Polytechnic College is established in 1998. Now it is functioning as a Sub-Centre under the Centre for Continuing Education Kerala. Through the Continuing Education Cell, we enable the employed/unemployed educated youth to pursue courses of different duration.

The Continuing Education Cell under this polytechnic undertakes various short term courses which have great response from the general public. The Funds generated from these courses are being utilized for the various developmental activities of the Polytechnic. We concentrate on offering the most sought-after courses that would equip our students with skill sets to meet the intellectual challenges posed by the advancing technologies.

We give emphasis to:-

• Imparting need-based training to unemployed youth
• To offer full time, part-time, formal and non-formal programs to upgrade the technical/management skills much sought after by the small scale businesses and industry.
• To meet the technical manpower/training needs of specific sectors.
• To develop and publish training materials for regular and distance education programs.
• To make training needs of specific sectors after careful analysis of the job market.
• To develop and publish training materials for regular and distance education programs.
• To identify the areas in which distance education and open learning methods are appropriate and design and conduct such programs.
• To identify the employment potential in emerging areas and to conduct competency based skill development programmes.
• To undertake such other activities to meet the training/educational objectives of the society.

We are now running a driving School for the staff and students of CPTC. Last year Fifty six students had completed training under the driving school.

As a part of the Industry Institute Linkage programme CEC is conducting a one year Professional Diploma in Automobile Engineering in tie-up with Kerala Automobiles Ltd. In the Year 2016-17 two batches were conducted and about 50 students have completed this course.

Under the Instructions from Govt. of Kerala Continuing Education Cell is conducting & Co-ordinating various Skill Development programmes for the inmates of prison. The Continuing Education Cell of this institution already provided training on Electrical Wireman &Plumbing for the inmates of central Prison. In the Year 2017.we are conducting Electrical wireman course and Computer Hardware course for the in mates of District Prison, Thiruvananthapuram

We are conducting Skill test & written test for various public sector undertakings in co-ordination with Centre for Management Development. We are also conducting 2 sessions of Associate Membership exam for the Aeronautical Society of India. Besides this we are co-ordinating ‘On the Job Training’ to the Vocational Higher Secondary students and providing Practical Classes for Centre for advanced printing Technology students.
